about yippeecoyote records .. I used to hear coyotes wail and yip every night as I fell asleep on my two hundred acre purchase of scrub timber in eastern Kansas. It was music to my ears. Only after I had signed on the dotted line and did I hear that the real nickname for this place was Rattlesnake Hill. It was a well deserved title as one evening I nearly tripped over one as big around as a large softball bat. I was immediately tempted to call my musical efforts Rattlesnake Records, but rattlers don't sing too well and coyotes do, and so the rest is, as they say, history...
Yippeecoyote Records became an officially established independent record producer in about 1999. He has played in a wide variety of bands local and regional bands with styles ranging from bluegrass and country to swing, blues, and jazz. His influences necessarily run the gamut from Monroe and Berline to Coltrane and Metheny. Though most of his playing time has been in the central plains region of the US, he has been involved in the music scenes of Minneapolis and New York City as well. He currently lives in Lawrence, Kansas where he performs, composes, teaches and raises two great kids.
